Does your giraffe or cheetah need a new look for the new year? Is your wildebeest feeling a little drab compared to the other creatures on the Serengeti? If so, send them over to Clara’s Safari Salon, and they’ll come out looking like a new animal.

Our Little Lamb
In contrast to last year, Annika decided that this year it might be cool to act out the Christmas story. So, last week she played a sheep at the church Christmas party (along with the other little girls from her Sunday school class).

Afterward, she even claimed to have had a good time.

St. Paddy’s Day in June
A little late, but these were too cute to pass on telling you about. We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a couple fun things:
Shamrock Pizzas
The Little Women went on a shamrock treasure hunt, following arrows to a special prize: Finger Puppets!
Fashion Queens
Among the youngest fashionistas of the Vance house, the one accessory that you don’t want to be seen without is . . . underwear. This has been so ever since Annika potty-trained after Christmas. And as any fashionista knows, it’s not only the what but the how that says whether you’re in or out. So, unlike those unfashionable prudes who wear theirs underneath their clothes, Clara and Nicolyn wear theirs on top.
They can get away with this because they’re still in diapers, and because their older sister is very good about sharing this part of her wardrobe.
After further clothing research, Nicolyn also determined that animal hand puppets need not be limited to the hands — in fact, they make good slippers, too.
Daddy’s dress socks also make for a good time.
Three Sweet Peas
Jenelle’s very good friend and talented photographer, Tricia, spent several hours in the summer photographing our sweet girls. Biased though we are, we think the pictures turned out wonderfully! What do you think?

On the Runway at Age One
Clara and Nicolyn celebrated their first birthday in late April. The entire family is very relived to have reached this milestone with everyone’s sanity more-or-less intact. Among some very exciting birthday presents from Nana and Grandpa Dell was a large selection of dress-up clothes that any little girl would be excited to have (including a magic wand from Aunt Autumn). The girls quickly realized how to make the most of these.
Two-In-One
For Annika, picking out the right pajamas for the evening is a big deal: she won’t wear Big Sister jammies or cow jammies if she thinks that it should be a monkey jammies night. So, she was very excited when she one day decided that her brown polka-dot nightgown was reversible: ballet slippers on one side, polka dots on the other. Of course, now she faces the additional agony of trying to decide which front side should be the front on any given night.
